Woman in 40s ‘beaten to death’ in horror attack at home as man, 38, arrested on suspicion of assault

A WOMAN was reportedly beaten to death in a horrific attack on a home while police arrested a man on suspicion of assault.

Staffordshire Police were called to an address in Kingsdale Close, Meir, a suburb of Stoke-on-Trent, at 4.55pm yesterday.

Inside, officers found a woman in her 40s.

She was taken to the hospital for treatment but sadly passed away a short time later.

Police arrested a 38-year-old man from Stoke-on-Trent on suspicion of assault.

A cordon has been set up at the address and the arrested man remains in custody.

A local resident said so Stoke Sentinel: “We saw many police cars coming, as well as ambulances and a rescue plane. A police car stopped in front of the property. That was very worrying.”

Police said a referral had been made to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) in connection with the incident.
