Woman praised for stopping passenger who wanted to swap seats on flight

A WOMAN was praised after stopping another passenger from swapping seats during a flight.

TikTok user Arleen shared a video where she spoke about a controversial topic.

She shared her own story, which occurred during a four-hour flight from Hawaii to Seattle.

Sitting in a premium economy row in the window seat, Arleen said another woman from 20 rows behind – in regular seats – asked the passenger sitting next to her to swap so they sit in that row with her friend could.

Arleen explained, “She looks at the Asian girl next to me and says, ‘Let’s switch places. I’m back in [row] 26′”.

However, she said they were in row eight, which has unlimited drinks and snacks.

She added: “[The woman] starts to get up and I say: NO!”

Though the stranger offered to swap her own window seat for the premium economy middle seat, Arleen said, “Row 26 is not premium economy, no.”

She told the woman sitting next to her to sit back down, which she did, and lied to the strangers that they knew each other.

Arleen continued, “The lady in row 26 is kinda mad that she can’t sit next to her friend and she was like, ‘You’re not traveling together, you made that up’.”

She then said she started speaking Cantonese to the woman next to her to pretend they were, even though she knew it was the wrong language.

She ended by saying the woman replied in Japanese and they pretended to be talking, after which they told the other woman to return to her own seat.

The video had more than 2.8 million views and people loved her story.

A woman said: “Nice that you were there so that the elderly lady was not taken advantage of.”

Another said: “I can’t imagine asking anyone to switch in my favor for a better seat. What’s wrong with the people?

A third remarked, “I’ve noticed that these people never want to downgrade to sit with their boyfriend/partner.”

Last year, a woman refused to swap seats with a family after they were separated mid-flight.

And one man was praised for refusing to swap seats so father and son could sit side by side.

A flight attendant has revealed she hates people who come to her to swap seats.
