KING OF PRUSSIA, Pennsylvania (WPVI) — Back-to-school shopping at the King of Prussia Mall was disrupted Thursday when a woman pulled a gun in the food court area.
Upper Merion Township Police said the incident began when the woman was involved in an argument with three other women near the Five Guys.
The woman said she went away to wait for her food but was approached by two of the other women as the argument continued.
The single woman said she thought she was being attacked, so she pulled a pistol from her purse and pointed it at her.
No shots were fired, police said.
“All of a sudden we see a couple of hundred people coming towards us from the food court and we look and a guy walks past us,” said David Ogleton from Devon. “I don’t think he wanted to scare anyone else, so he just made the sign of a gun.”
Ogleton said he went shopping with his 11-year-old son back at school.
When police entered the mall, shops began to close.
The official said buyers and employees were shaken.
“I called my wife and we said this wasn’t our worst fear, it’s something we always worry about now,” Ogleton said.
According to authorities, the woman who made the gun legally owned it and has a permit to carry a concealed gun in Montgomery County.
Police said at the time no charges would be filed.
No injuries were reported in the incident.
