A WOMAN has split opinions after spray-painting her “vintage” sofa in a very vibrant color.
Kelsey Whittaker uploaded a video showing how she wanted to turn the old piece to look more up to date.
In a video that has received more than 3,000 likes, Kelsey said: “Draw this vintage couch my mom bought me for $15 (£11).”
Kelsey shows herself sitting on a pretty couch, before starting to transform her bargain.
First, she glued green tape to the ends of the wood to protect them.
DIY lover added her @kwolfephotography account: “I received some plastic paint sheets to cover.
“I created my spray area and applied the first coat of paint.
“This paint, by Lowe’s, is an outdoor fabric paint and it works great.”
in one second video, she shows the whole process of turning a completely beige couch into a bright blue.
The clip has garnered more than half a million views, and although some people are impressed, others are horrified.
Many people have problems with bright, bold colors.
One person wrote: “So if you fall asleep on it, do you look like the Smurfs when you wake up?? Does it come out with clothes??”
Another added: “this is a choice.”
Kelsey replied, “I left this couch to dry for eight hours on a Saturday at a hawker market.
“It’s a Photo Booth. No one has green butts!
Meanwhile, others questioned whether the couch was stiff from the paint.
One person wrote: “That would make it feel raw and stiff.”
Kelsey responded to a comment: “Just a little bit!”
ONEThe user also questioned what would happen if she needed to clean the couch and she admitted: “Uh didn’t even think about that.”
However, many people love her DIY project, with one person writing: “This is a great idea. I love color.”
Kesley responded to the trolls and uploaded a clip of the colorful outdoor seating arrangement, writing: “For the haters.”
