Worker dies after falling from scaffolding while carrying out repairs

A WORKER has died after falling from scaffolding while doing repairs to a building in Borders town centre.

Just before 1pm today, rescue workers rushed to the scene of the accident at Dean Park, Peebles, in the Scottish Borders.

But tragically, the 59-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigations into the circumstances of the fatal accident are currently underway.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “At around 12.55pm on Wednesday 19 July 2023 we were called to a report of an accident at work at a property in Dean Park, Peebles

“The rescue service was on site, but the 59-year-old man died at the scene of the accident.

“Investigations are ongoing and the Health and Safety Officer has been informed.

“A report will be submitted to the prosecutor, as is usual with all deaths.”
