PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — The Philadelphia Phillies landed in Houston before Game 1 on Friday.
Fans looking forward to the World Series lined up in front of Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia before the team departed on Wednesday.
“I came to show my support because they are doing everything for us right now,” said Sonny Petrongolo.
The well wishes from the fans are coupled with some big dreams for the team.
“Hammer and thunder and lightning. Take ’em out and come back and win it in Philly!” said a fan who skipped work to wave the team to Houston.
Philly believers can’t get their hands on merch fast enough. According to Fanatics, Philadelphia broke a 24-hour merchandise sales record and made MLB history. Helping out are the ladies from Danovich of Sewell, NJ.
“This is our second time going back to the store,” said mum Janet.
“We were here on Monday but they didn’t have all the supplies yet,” daughter Katherine said.
Fans can’t wait to see the big game.
“We’re just going to freak out, shake the house and everything,” said Peter Inoa of North Philadelphia.
