X Factor Australia star arrested for murdering nine-month-old baby girl five years after tot found unconscious at home

Australian X-FACTOR star Mitchell Callaway has been arrested for the alleged murder of a nine-month-old girl.
The 37-year-old man was handcuffed at his home in Bowraville, Australia, following a lengthy police investigation into the baby’s death in 2018.
The tattooed Callaway was shown in the picture being let loose on the perpetrator by police after he was charged with the alleged murder of the youth on Thursday.
At the time of the tragedy in 2018, emergency services were called to a home in Binnaway after reports said the little girl was unresponsive.
The little one was taken to Coonabarabran Hospital but died shortly thereafter.
Investigators with the Orana Mid-Western Police District then launched an investigation into the death that spanned nearly five years.
Specialized forensic officers analyzed the home and led investigators to conclude the death was suspicious.
And after police received new information in May, they issued an arrest warrant at the scene, leading to the man’s arrest today.
Callaway then appeared in Macksville District Court on a suspected murder.
The matter has been adjourned and he will appear in court again next week.
The baby’s heartbroken mother told the Daily Mail she was glad the investigation was moving forward.
She said, “There’s a long way to go.”
“But today we saw the beginning of justice.
“She was the reason I kept fighting and living and made it this far.
“Not a day goes by that I don’t miss you and wish you were here.
“It won’t bring you back, but it will bring you some peace and the justice you deserve—forever, my little girl.”
At the time of the little one’s death, an obituary at her funeral said: “She was the epitome of perfection.”
“She was the happiest, smiling and sassy babe who melted the hearts of everyone she met.”

Callaway competed in the third season of “X Factor” in Australia in 2011 before dropping out in week six of the popular singing show.
He finished seventh in the overall classification.
