You can holiday at the UK’s best beach from £6pp a night

THIS little-known beach has been voted the best in the UK – and you’d probably never guess where it is.

The beach was included in the list of ‘Britain’s Best Beaches’ in TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards 2023.

The list ranks the best beaches in the UK and some even surpass European beaches.

The Victorian seaside town is a hidden gem, with the three-mile stretch of sandy beach featured in the Richard Curtis film Yesterday.

Celebrity guests include Ed Sheeran and Danny Boyle.

One TripAdvisor reviewer wrote: “This has to be one of the most beautiful beaches in the UK – and I’ve visited most of them.”

To make it even better, there is plenty of seafront accommodation in the Gorleston area – and some start from £6 per person per night.

Other high ranking beaches include Weymouth Beach, Cornwall’s Fistral Beach and Bournemouth Beach.

And a beach in Iceland took the top spot as the best European beach.

Reynisfjara beach is famous for its black sand and for being featured in Game of Thrones.

However, it’s not for sun-worshippers — it has recorded world-record waves of up to 120 feet and freezing water.

Praia da Falésia in the Portuguese Algarve was ranked number 2 in Europe, closely followed by Spiaggia dei Conigli in Sicily at number 3.

Sarah Firshein, Editor-in-Chief at TripAdvisor, said: “As a big beach fan myself, I know the irresistible allure of sunshine and turquoise waters – and there’s certainly plenty of that on this year’s list.”

“But there are also some nice surprises.

“In addition to the popular beaches of the Caribbean and Hawaii, our community wants to elevate their experiences and explore even cooler destinations like Iceland’s Reynisfjara Beach.”

And an abandoned seaside amusement park is being converted into a holiday resort.
