You Can Watch 7 Minutes Of Sonic Frontiers Open-World Gameplay Right Now

Yesterday, Sega debuted about 30 seconds of Sonic Frontiers open-world gameplay, and today you can now check out more than seven minutes of gameplay, courtesy of IGN. It’s basically an extended look at what was shown yesterday and it looks great.

It’s beautiful right off the bat – it also looks more realistic than any Sonic game before it – and it’s clear that speed is the name of the game, with practically nothing standing in the way of the Blue Blur. It’s cliché to say, but it looks like if you see something in the distance, you have a way of dashing all the way there, be it the rail, the ramp, the ground, or something other. Take a look for yourself below:

As you can see, running isn’t all that’s included in this enhanced gameplay look. There are many Sonic staples, like floor boosts, bumpers, and more. There are also towers that act as platform challenges and task you with reaching the top. Elsewhere there are easy puzzles to solve, where stepping on lighted switches as well as a speed wheel (think: hamster wheel or hedgehog wheel I suppose) seems to do the trick some in the nearby areas. Maybe it will clear up a map or unlock new areas to explore. Only time will tell now.

Unfortunately, we don’t have a release date for Sonic Frontiers just yet, but it’s coming sometime this year, so hopefully we won’t have to wait too long. While you wait to find out more, check out this trailer from last December, and then check out this other snippet of Sonic Frontiers gameplay that debuted yesterday.
