SOMEWHERE in this snowy scene is a deadly sniper trapped and loaded, ready to strike – but can you spot him within 30 seconds?
The mysterious marksman made sure he was armed with the element of surprise and his deadly weapon at that moment.
Although the picture appears to be of an abandoned building in the middle of nowhere, there are dangers in this wintry forest.
The remote wilderness and sparse trees have proven to be the perfect hiding place for this marksman to aim from.
The sniper blended expertly into his surroundings as artist Simon Menner captured the incredible image.
The experienced photographer received permission to observe riflemen of the German, Latvian and Lithuanian armies in action.
He spent six years following snipers on training exercises to capture their remarkable ability to blend in with their surroundings.
Simon watched them help each other create their “ghillie suits,” using natural elements like leaves and dead grass to adapt them to any landscape.
At first glance, his series of paintings called Disappearing Act appear as silent and sometimes eerie landscapes, from sunny meadows to mist-shrouded mountains.
Despite the freezing temperatures, he still managed to secure the money shot – it left people perplexed.
But you can escape with your life if you manage to find the sniper in time.
For those who were frustrated deciphering the shooter’s vantage point, fear not – we have the answer.
If you take a closer look at the bare building, you might notice something sinister lurking in the upstairs window.
The sneaky sniper hid in plain sight as seen in the follow-up image below.
Simon said he was “fascinated” by the fan reaction to his stunning photography.
He told WIRED: “In a way, the interesting part is when the story happens inside their heads.
“They’re looking for the sniper and think they’ve found him, but then they start to question themselves. I find that fascinating.”
