You’re applying sunscreen wrong – most people don’t get the SPF protection on the bottle, my method ensures I’m covered

A TIKTOKER revealed her trick on how to apply sufficient sun protection before sunbathing.
While applying a large amount of sunscreen to the side of her face, Abbey Yung noted (@abbeyyung) addressed the problem of what usually goes wrong when people try to apply the protectant lotion.
“Most of us have heard that to get the SPF listed on your sunscreen, you have to put a quarter teaspoon of sunscreen on your face,” she said.
While massaging the sunscreen evenly to ensure a streak-free application, the SPF savior explained that her method makes it easy to stay protected from harmful UV rays.
“Most people don’t put that much sunscreen on, or if they try, it just feels way too much to put on at once,” she said.
Instead, the TikToker gave viewers her tip for full sunscreen.

“I layer my sunscreen,” she told her followers.
Abbey kept her hair away from her face with an oversized black headband and began applying the first coat until it blended into her skin and covered her entire face.
Next, she squirted some extra lotion into the palm of her hand to make sure she got the full dose of SPF.
“After leaving the sunscreen on for a few minutes, I apply a second layer to the first,” she said as she began rubbing in the second round.
“This helps keep the sunscreen from linting and difficult to blend into the skin,” she continued.
She also told viewers that using a really nice, lightweight sunscreen doesn’t make the layers feel like you’re wearing a lot at all.
Many of her million followers appreciated the method, but others were still concerned.
“At the end of the day my face would be so oily it would drain. I don’t know if I could do that,” said one viewer.
Abbey replied, “I have oily skin too – it just depends on the sunscreen you use!”
