Zac Efron follows Vanessa Hudgens more than ten years after the split – fans are raging
After playing love interests in the High School Musical franchise, the two took their romance off-screen in 2007 and eventually ended it in 2010.
Zanessa fans are feeling all kinds of nostalgia after noticing Zac Efron’s recent goodwill gesture to his ex-girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens.
The internet went wild this week after she revealed the 35-year-old actor was following the Rent: Live star on Instagram more than a decade after their split. While it’s unclear exactly when Efron decided to hit follow, Hudgens has yet to retaliate.
Efron and Hudgens rose to fame with their roles as Troy Bolton and Gabriella Montez in the High School Musical franchise. After playing love interests in the global Disney Channel phenomenon, the duo took their romance off-screen and confirmed their relationship in 2007.

The Disney Channel alums dated for three years and finally called it quits in 2010.
Back in April 2019, Hudgens opened up about her past relationship with Efron during an appearance on The Awards Chatter Podcast and revealed she was grateful to have the “Neighbors” actor as a partner in the early days of her fame.
“It started quite naturally,” she recalled of their romance. “I couldn’t have been more grateful to have that relationship at that time.”
Hudgens continued, “It was this massive phenomenon and [all] Eyes were on me and it’s just a really weird strange thing to go through and being in a relationship has kind of kept me stabilized and grounded and I had someone to lean on could, who also went through it.
The 34-year-old actress admitted there were moments when dating her co-star was difficult.

“I remember we had a fight once, and it was during rehearsals,” she said. “I remember Kenny Ortega coming around the corner with a worried look on his face and saying, ‘Oh no, our movie is going to fall apart, isn’t it?'”
“I’m proud to be a pro,” she added. “So I was like, ‘We’re going to go ahead and do what we have to do… and we sorted everything out. I think because I was so young, I think that relationship stabilized me.”
After their relationship, Hudgens started dating Austin Butler in 2011. The couple dated for nine years before finally calling it quits in January 2020. She eventually moved on with now-fiancé Cole Tucker, making their relationship official in February 2021. The couple announced their engagement after two years of dating.
As for Efron, the actor was last linked to model Vanessa Valladares, whom he met in September 2020 while she was working at the Byron Bay General Store & Cafe in Australia. The couple eventually split in April 2021.
