We Bet You Didn’t Think These Celebs Are THIS Rich…
Get Rich or Die Tryin. 50 Cent’s net worth is around $40M, but there are others far richer in the entertainment game. Celebs have been making bank since the dawn of time.
And, did you know, many of these celebrities don’t owe their riches to fame? Actually, you’ll see that most have their own personal endeavours (A.K.A. side hustles). And no, we’re not talking about gambling – that’s a pastime some celebrities spend time doing for the sheer fun of it. Although, surprisingly there are some who have made quite a few bucks playing their favourite games – off the top of our heads – Jennifer Tilly comes to mind. And, if you like these stars the thought of having a similar ‘side gig’ there are hundreds of real money SA online gambling sites for South African players. While it’s true the chances of winning a lot aren’t huge, the element of fun is always there!
Let’s take a look at who’s worth what in the entertainment biz.
1. Rihanna: $1.4B
Regular songstress, Rihanna is not. The Barbados-born beauty captured fans in the 2000s with her sultry pop energy and has been letting them down in the tunes department of late. However, that’s not to say that she hasn’t been busy. Not only does Rihanna have child number two on the way at the time of print, but she’s also been getting her mogul on, with her Fenty beauty brand for all skin tones and textures and the Fenty x Savage lingerie line for all shapes and sizes. In 2022 alone the revenues for the Fenty beauty brand doubled. No news on the long-awaited new album, though.
2. Jami Gertz: $3B
Does this name ring a bell? Perhaps her face will instead, even if you don’t know Jami by name. With a string of huge hits in the 80s, like Sixteen Candles and The Lost Boys, and later smashes with Twister and Still Standing, Jami has been prolific in the acting community for a long time. But a side of her you might not know is that together with her husband, they are involved in a significant amount of philanthropy efforts and co-own the Atlanta Hawks NBA team. Yes, her husband is a hedge fund owner.
3. Dwayne The Rock Johnson: $800M
Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has been all over our screens since his first comeuppance to fame when he was starting out as a wrestler. The crowd loved his theatrics and a star was born, as Dwayne turned his hand to real theatrics. The Rock managed to amass a fortune over the years cranking out hit after hit, including far too many Fast and the Furious movies, as well as taking on many endorsement deals. His dazzling personality, acting skills, and try-anything attitude have seen his star soar and his money pile up.
4. Sean Combs: $900M
While most people on the street know Sean Combs as Puff Daddy, the early 2000s rapper, it was never really rapping that was Sean’s focus. In fact, the rapping itself was a side hustle for Diddy. Instead, his wealth is from being a record producer, and then later record label founder, then moving into clothing label founder. A jack of all trades, Sean is clever, driven, and unapologetic about the way that he lives his life.
5. Naomi Osaka: $45M
If you haven’t heard of Naomi yet, well then it’s probably because you don’t care much for the game of tennis. Naomi is a Japanese player ranked number one worldwide by the Women’s Tennis Association who also has four Grand Slam wins under her belt. While plenty of her earnings are from championship wins, she makes around double her winnings in endorsements off the court.
6. Bruce Springsteen: $500M
Bruce Springsteen, aka The Boss, joins our list of the richest celebrities, not thanks to a new tour or album, but thanks to his wheelings and dealings in 2021. In December of that year, Bruce sold off his entire back catalogue to the Sony Music Group after a long affiliation with the company. The catalogue itself was worth around $465M and covered close to 50 years’ worth of recordings along with his song writing credits.
7. Gordon Ramsay: $220M
Everyone’s favorite shouty chef, Gordon Ramsay, deserves a place on our list as he has been on his grind for years, churning out reality show after reality show dedicated to cooking and shouting, although he’s gotten less shouty over the years. While that other British chef, Jamie Oliver, seems to have almost disappeared from the celebrity chef landscape, Gordon is only pushing harder to be everywhere at once. The line of Gordon Ramsay restaurants is rapidly expanding globally, which means his fortunes are also on the rise.
