Math Tutor on Pornhub: Attracts 1.9 Million Views, Earns $268,000/year

A Taiwanese teacher posted math lessons on a world-leading porn website after his cram school lost students and had to shut down.

Math teacher Shun-Wei Chang (34), also known as Changhsu, runs an account on porn website Pornhub, with hundreds of math lessons and more than 7,000 subscribers.

With the slogan “Play hard, study hard”, Mr. Chang’s channel on Pornhub has achieved a total of nearly 2 million views. This makes him one of the successful content creators on the platform, which mainly features pornographic images and videos.

Mr. Chang has been posting math lessons on Pornhub for more than a year and has only recently attracted the attention of many people when reporters from Taiwanese and foreign newspapers have contacted and interviewed him since October, according to Vice News on November 11.

“A lot of people thought it was just a marketing ploy and thought it was fun,” Mr. Chang told Vice News. But in fact, Mr. Chang had faced a crisis and his tutoring center (also known as a cram school) was in trouble.

Mr. Chang owed a total of $35,900, including a bank loan to set up the tutoring center in Hsinchu City, Taiwan.

In 2019, Mr. Chang opened a tutoring center and hired some colleagues to teach. In February 2020, one of those colleagues opened a new exam preparation center on the floor above Mr. Chang’s tutoring center.

“They took away all my students, so my center lost revenue and stopped operating. I even thought about committing suicide because I was in so much debt,” Mr. Chang said.

However, Mr. Chang decided to switch to setting up an online math teaching website, preparing for final year students and even university students.

For many months, he recorded 30-40 math teaching videos every day and slept at the closed tutoring center so he could continuously record videos. To reach students, he came up with a unique way of posting lecture videos on Pornhub.

Thanks to that, over the past year, Mr. Chang said that more and more students have signed up for online courses on his official website. He also made enough money to pay off his debts and now no longer posts videos on Pornhub.

“The original purpose of posting math videos on the porn website Pornhub was to attract people’s attention. If anyone is facing a crisis like I was, I hope my story can help them see that in despair there is always hope and opportunity,” said Mr. Chang.
