Liberty Theater Wilkesboro NC: Movie theater construction workers find missing purse lost 30 years ago

WILKESBORO, NC– A 30-year mystery was solved this week with the help of some North Carolina construction workers.

The mystery involved a purse that had been missing since 1992.

Sherry Church was 17 when she went to the Liberty Theater in north Wilkesboro one night.

That was the night she lost her purse, she thought, forever.

But during a recent theater remodel, a worker was hit in the head by something falling from the ceiling. It was Sherry’s purse!

The purse contained Sherry’s birth certificate, an old application, a class schedule, makeup and more.
